Ladies Day

When I first joined Ladies Day in February of 2006 I was immediately put to work even though I did not sew as a hobby. Someone gave me fabric and a pattern to cut out walker bags (totes with tie-on handles for walkers and wheelchairs.) Another member was given the materials to cut quilt squares. We could cut as many as we chose because they were not sewn that day they would be ready to use at another time. Having pre-cut pieces opened the door for anyone wishing to help by doing layouts, pinning pieces together, sewing, ironing, or adding finishing touches. On that day (to my recollection) there were twelve women in that room. Moving into the hall for our noon lunch gathering we would be joined by twenty other women. Viewing photos from past luncheons and activities I found we have bid farewell to ten women just in the last three years. The great majority has moved back to their original states or on to new homes in Florida...
