Over the past handful of years, they’ve evolved from being thought of as a fad, to becoming a stronghold at farmer’s markets and weekend hotspots across the nation. In 2010, Fort Myers chef Scott Sopher decided to hang up his apron in stationary kitchens and take his talent on the road. His mobile operation, the Nosh Truck, became an overnight success and soon other venturing vendors started popping up across the county.

The best way to keep tabs on your favorite traveling tastes is through social media. Owners post updated schedules and impromptu stops throughout the week. Plus, if you’re traveling with a group, or need some grub delivered during a long meeting or event, almost every food truck in the area is available for appointments and catering.

The Nosh Truck

The team that started it all is still trucking around Fort Myers and Naples. Chef Sopher’s culinary training comes through in unique takes on a wide variety of dishes like burgers, Bahn Mi and Belgian waffles topped with Nutella.

 

The Munch Mobile

Fort Myers native Chad Morgan adds a personal touch to classic favorites like Cuban sandwiches and pulled pork with his homemade mojo and fajita marinades.

Red Roc Cravings

 Fresh ingredients and bold flavors come standard in every Red Roc dish. They specialize in traditional Mexican cuisine with their own personal spin – try one of their mexi-dogs.

Today, our local food truck “fad” has proved itself to be anything but. Weekly events like Fort Myers Brewing Company’s “Thursday Food Truck Rallies” garner tons of loyal patrons and continue to grow in popularity. In fact, Downtown Fort Myers hosted its inaugural “Food Truck Wars” in April 2016. So it’s safe to say these delicious meals on wheels won’t be rolling away anytime soon, making them a great option for a meal in between meetings.
