GRAND OPENING AND OPEN HOUSE – FOR THE CHAPMAN UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY AND THE PUBLIC

Friday, February 26, noon to 5 p.m.

Chapman University’s new Hilbert Museum of California Art throws open its doors for the first time, with a two-day Grand Opening and Open House for the campus community and the public. (Shuttle buses will operate today from the State of the University Address in Memorial Hall to the Museum, which is located just across from Ruby’s and the train station.) This is the only museum in the nation to showcase the work of the California artists who visually captured the history and culture of the Golden State, from the 1920s to the present day. Come and explore the Hilbert Museum’s first exhibition, showcasing a colorful survey of California Scene painting and featuring acclaimed artists Emil Kosa Jr., Lee Blair, Mary Blair, Millard Sheets, Phil Dike, Fletcher Martin, Rex Brandt, Phil Paradise, Milford Zornes and many more. Experts will be on hand to provide fascinating background on the works. Refreshments generously provided by Ruby’s.

Chapman University’s new Hilbert Museum of California Art continues its two-day Grand Opening and Open House with an evening event welcoming the arts community and the public. Come and discover the fascinating world of California Scene painting, a genre which explores the beauty of the Golden State while also showing the history of California’s people from the 1920s to today: towns and cities, farms and ranches, marinas, factories, train stations, parks, freeways and the lure of the open road. Come and explore the Hilbert Museum’s first exhibition, showcasing a colorful survey of California Scene painting and featuring acclaimed artists Emil Kosa Jr., Lee Blair, Mary Blair, Millard Sheets, Phil Dike, Fletcher Martin, Rex Brandt, Phil Paradise, Milford Zornes and many more. Experts will be on hand to talk about the works. Refreshments generously provided by Ruby’s Streamliner Café.
