When four Texas teenagers die on their way home from a dance, the horrified town council and a patriarchal minister protect their community and avert future disasters by outlawing the clearly corrupting influence of uninhibited dancing to the demonic call of rock and roll.

It takes the minister’s wild-reputationed, red-cowboy-booted daughter and a handsome, footloose Chicago outsider to save the town council’s old fogeys and the benighted--but well-intentioned—minister from themselves, thereby freeing the teens, the entire town, and our audiences to immerse themselves in a whole lot of truly “joyful noise.”
